A halterneck hoodie?

danni-1-copydanni2-copyOver three years ago a young girl sat on a beach in Newquay. The outcome was this unusual creation.

The halternck hoodie is the creation of designer Danni, who designs for the label DressedbyDanni. While she was at university, Danni worked for a small boutique in her hometown as a seamstress. She was lucky enough to sell her designs in Topshop Birmingham and Leeds.

But where does Danni draw her inspiration from?

She said: ‘It derives mainly from street style, vintage and alternative fashion rebels. If I’m wandering around a great fabric shop and a particular print is screaming out to me, I can get immediate inspiration. My artwork is also great inspiration for my designs.’

DressedbyDani has its own website and all the creations seen on the site are hand made to order. Most of the designs are limited edition prints, so the wearer is guaranteed a totally unique design. She manufactures and sells her designs single handedly and creates a rapport with all of her customers to provide memorable customer service. DressedbyDanni caters for this need to be individualistic, and not a fast fashion clone.

According to Danni, her latest collection was inspired by ‘the need to be warm whilst being fashionable. Winter for most people means dull thick knits and that really isn’t my ideal. I like to think fashion over function at all times, but I think my latest collection finds a happy medium between the two.’

On looking toward the future, she hopes ‘to see even more girls “dressedbydanni”, with the possibility of moving from the web to a bricks and mortar shop, somewhere quaint and unique!’
